About Us

Prior to founding her company, Joan Parker enjoyed a successful publishing career.  She held executive positions (Senior Vice President of a Reed-Elsevier company; Vice President at Oxford University Press; Vice President of Alan R. Liss, Inc.) and was appointed to policy-making Management Teams at five firms.  Working with scientific/technical/medical authors, she guided manuscripts from concept to publication.  Her experience ranges from initiating the author team for a college textbook with first year sales exceeding 150,000 copies to editing a Nobel Prize winner’s monograph.

In addition to her book background, Joan served as Editorial Director for consumer health care magazines and Publisher of peer-reviewed journals.  She created, developed and launched periodicals, including one that achieved three times its projected paid subscriber circulation.

Along with her literary agent activities, Joan continues to accept consulting, editorial and writing assignments from publishers and communication companies. This work ranges from securing authors for revised editions to serving as Interim Editor for health care magazines to orchestrating due diligence for a multi-million dollar acquisition. Her client list includes John Wiley & Sons, Inc., the Association for Hospital Medical Education, Thieme Medical Publishers, and BridgeTower Media.

Joan has delivered invited talks at Temple University, the City University of New York, and the Annual Meeting of the Council of Science Editors.  Her educational record is: Hunter College High School (graduated); the University of Rochester (attended); the University of Michigan (graduated); and New York University’s MBA program (attended).
